Looking back, I was a highly motivated high school student who wanted to attend a top university. I spent most of my waking hours studying and participating in extracurricular activities to boost my grades.
My hard work didn’t pay off as early as I planned for it to but it eventually did and I got into a good school.
However, I soon realized that I had lost myself in the process of striving for success.
I had neglected my health, relationships, and personal interests.
I felt empty despite my impressive academic achievements.
I needed to take a step back and strike a balance in my life.
I began to take care of myself by exercising, spending time with friends and family, and pursuing hobbies that brought me joy.
I realized that life was not just about achieving goals, but also about enjoying the journey along the way.
I learnt that success is essential but not at the cost of losing oneself in the process.
