Recently, JJC Skillz, also known as Abdulrasheed Bello, announced his return to Islam.

Who is the JJC Skillz?
JJC Skillz was born and raised in Kano till the age of 14 when he moved to the United Kingdom.

While he was in the U.K., he became interested in music and listened to his father’s country tunes with great affection.

Therefore, he established a musical ensemble and began to attend talent events.

Bello’s first significant production endeavour was co-founding Big Brovas records and the Big Brovas collective. His first album with 419 squads, Atide, was released in 2004. Ijoya by Weird MC, Pu Yanga by Tillaman, and Morile by Buoqui are some of his producing accomplishments.

Afropean (Afro-European fusion) and Afrobeats were among his contributions to the African music landscape.

He received the Nigerian entertainment award for best foreign artist in 2013. He established the JJC and the 419 team, two African supergroups. This ensemble was awarded the 2014 Kora All-African Music Award.

We Are Africans, the afrobeat song on which JJC Skillz’s record was based, brought him fame in Nigeria.

Before the popularity of We are Africans, Skillz was the producer for the British hip-hop record label and group Big Brovaz.

In 2016, he wed Funke Akindele, who he had three children with from prior relationships.

His marriage to Funke Akindele gave birth to twins in 2018.

He declared his separation from his wife Funke Akindele on June 30, 2022.

Lately, he revealed that he had returned to the faith of his father, Islam.

According to postings on his verified Instagram account,

“I was lost but now I’m found O Allah, I ask You for Your pardon and well-being in this life and the next.

“O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay, and preserve me from the front and behind and on my right and my left and from above, and I take refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.”

Furthermore, he confirmed his change of religion when he spoke to the Muslim News,

He said,

“I was born a Muslim – AbdurRasheed by name. My dad, Bello, is a Muslim but my mum is a Christian. Back then I used to go Islamiyah but all I remembered about it was getting beaten. They used to scare us with hellfire, so I never practised.

“It’s God’s design that I will return to Islam. I thank Allah for sparing my life.

I am so happy I found Islam again because it has given me peace. It has given me direction and focus. I was truly lost but now, I am found,” he maintained.”

However, his unexpected conversion to another religion has prompted several rumours.

Some others felt he converted his religion to find serenity following his separation.

Others argue that he must have had a significant personal event to return to Islam.

What may be his reasons?
