Nigerian youths took it upon themselves to protest and show their dissatisfaction over the current high standard of living, starting from the hike in fuel price to the hike in $1 which has affected Naira.

According to an AFP journalist at the scene, on the 19th of February 2024, the youths of Ibadan were seen working the streets of Ibadan with placards and flex with different write-ups written on them addressing President Bolaji Tinubu.

Furthermore, notes like

“Hunger is too much”

“End Nigeria Hardship”

“Tinubu do something”

“It’s never been like this before… we are starving” and many others.

Previously, President Tinubu has urged Nigerians to be patient with his administration to bring in reforms and ultimately attract foreign investors, after ending the fuel subsidy which resulted in the drastic hike in price.

However, Nigerians seem to think the reforms are taking longer than expected as the economic crisis and standard of living keep topping the charts daily.

The powerful Kano Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, issued a dire warning earlier this month, stating that Nigerians were facing “economic hardships, hunger and starvation” and he urged the president to act immediately.

Other citizens of Nigerians have shown concerns complaining how they are unable to pay their children’s school fees and house rents due to the current condition of the country. Some others have complained of starvation, subjugating mothers to dig up ant hills with hopes of finding grains being stored by ants to feed their children according to a video online.

The suffering doesn’t seem to be coming to an end as more families and states keep coming forward to speak on the economic crises of Nigeria.

In Conclusion, Nigerians pray and hope the protests bring about a solution to the economic problems of the country and also for the President to take an action that will put a stop to the hardship in the country.
