PARTY IN DOWNING STREET, FUNERAL AT THE PALACE
Several petitions has been raised and signed by the United Kindom public, concerning the two party events that took place at 10 Downing Street [ Prime Ministers office which is over 300 years old, situated in Westminster London. The sobriquet Number 10, is also the official residence and executive office of the First Lord of the Treasury].
The funeral of Prince Charles( The husband to Queen Elizabeth the) took place on the 17th of April 2021, with the united kingdom under the stage two(up to two households can mix indoors) lock down. The Queen laid mourned her husband sitting alone in corner in a private chapel where the internment took place, an exemplary attempt to keep the covid 19 stage two lock down rules.
According to investigations, undenied by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson a stage two regukation defying party was held at Number 10, on the eve of Prince Charles’ funeral. The partie were characterised by late night drinking, dancing and loud music.
Primes Minister Boris Johnson, who was not at Number 10 at the time of the party, had left for Primes Minister’s retreat, has however, apologised to the state after he learned of the farewell party for a staffer and departing doctor.
The Prime Ministers spokesman, James Slack apologised for this incident in his statement which he said,
“It’s deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning and No. 10 has apologized to the palace,”
Mr Boris earlier apologised for attending a party in Number 10 in May during the first lockdown, due to recent revelations. This statement has loosened his grip on power and has opened up loopholes for arrow shots from oppositions as fellow conservatives and MPs consent to petitions.
The fear of such a party scandal and the need to disassociate from it could be the reason for the reaction of the Conservatives.
“We were asking people all over our country to make massive sacrifices, people in rural Sutton Coldfield to make massive sacrifices, over the last two years. I think we have the right to expect everybody in government and in those positions of leadership to follow those same rules and guidelines as well.”
Johnson said unapologetically, he added that the party was to thank the staffs for their immense contribution and heartfelt service.
The outcomes sequelling the allegations and investigations, doesn’t seem to sit well with the public as they express their dissatisfaction and disappointments.
Hear the words of Angela Rayner,
“I have no words for the culture & behaviours at number 10 and the buck stops with the PM.”
What could his mean for Boris Johnson? if these petitions doesn’t work, 2024 will definitely be a defining year.
