The Presidency has recently come under intense scrutiny following widespread speculation and unfounded rumors suggesting that it has been involved in the distribution of monetary incentives to members of the National Assembly during the festive season.
In response to these baseless allegations, the Presidential office has vehemently refuted the claims, emphasizing its firm commitment to maintaining transparency and ethical conduct within the government.
On a recent Sunday, a statement was released by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, clarifying the President’s notable initiatives. He emphasized that the President’s efforts focused on distributing rice and food items as palliatives.
Additionally, the administration took concrete steps to implement constituency projects, allocating N100 million per Federal Constituency and N200 million per Senatorial Constituency.
These impactful endeavors aimed to address the pressing needs of the citizens and demonstrate the administration’s commitment to positive change.
He elaborated that the food items were carefully procured through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The provisions, which were deemed essential for the welfare of Nigerians, were carefully handed over to members of the National Assembly (NASS) who serve as representatives of the people.

During his address, he dismissed the lingering insinuations that some people might have, rumors that some members of the National Assembly are hoarding the palliatives.
In his remarks, he underscored the key factor that these NASS members are only able to distribute the vital provisions upon receiving them.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the intricate distribution process is influenced by logistical considerations, thereby debunking any misconceptions that have permeated through the grapevine.
In a passionate plea to the citizens of Nigeria, he fervently urged them to wholeheartedly disregard any form of misinformation or propaganda that may allude to the contrary.

Through his heartfelt words he tried to instill trust and confidence in the in the hearts of many towards the integrity of the distribution process, reassuring the populace that the ultimate goal is to ensure that these life-saving resources effectively reach those in need across the nation.
He wrote, “Clarification on the distributed NASS palliatives by the Presidency during the festive period;
“President Tinubu did not give cash to the National Assembly members as palliatives to the people in the constituencies and senatorial districts.
“The President through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security only distributed rice and other food items as palliatives and sort of Constituency Projects worth N100million per Federal Constituency and N200million per Senatorial Constituency.
“The NASS members who are considered to be closest to ordinary Nigerians people in all parts of the country.
“The emanating insinuations from some Nigerians out there suggesting that some National Assembly members are hoarding the palliatives is grossly misleading because they can only distribute when they have received it, and this is due to logistic reasons behind the distribution process.
“Again, President Tinubu approved the distribution of trailers’ load of food materials to National Assembly members, but it was not done in cash. It was food items sourced through the Ministry of Agriculture.”
