In a gesture of gratitude, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for upholding the principles of judicial independence. This significant gesture led to the favorable outcomes seen today as he and other governors attained victory in their legal battles at the Supreme Court.
Governor Otti was happy that nobody destroyed anything today. He said this after the Supreme Court confirmed that he won the election. He said it would have been bad if the President interfered with the court decision. He thanked the people for supporting him and thought that it was right that the court didn’t let bad politicians change the election results. He thanked God for helping him win and thanked the people for voting for him.
“I want to thank His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for remaining firm in his resolve that the judiciary should be independent.

“If he had not done that, perhaps some of the judgements and verdicts that were given today would have been different.

“I want to encourage him to continue in that light. I believe that his non-intervention in the judiciary has produced positive results in the country today.
“A few places where people were getting ready to burn down places today, [they] have sheathed their swords because the rule of law prevailed,” Governor Otti noted.
Governor Otti expressed his gratitude to all the governorship candidates for their unwavering support, especially acknowledging those who chose not to pursue legal action following the election results.
He also made special mention of the anointed men of God for their heartfelt prayers.
In a gracious and conciliatory gesture, he reached out to those who contested the election in court, urging them to set aside their grievances and come together to contribute their ideas for the advancement and prosperity of Abia.
It was his hope that, now that the election battle had drawn to a close, the collective focus should shift towards the harmonious development of the state.
“From now on, division cannot be allowed in Abia State. We are all in one boat; anybody who wants the good of our state should join us in this boat and the boat is large enough to accept and receive everyone,” he enjoined.
In his closing remarks, Governor Otti emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in moving Abia forward. He called for a spirit of cooperation and urged all stakeholders to work towards the common goal of building a better future for the state.
As the chapter of the election draws to a close, he expressed hope that together, they can create a brighter, more prosperous Abia for all its citizens.
