Mixed reactions have trailed the trending video of late Dowen college student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr being laid to rest in his father’s compound in Ogbe Ijoh, Warri, Delta State.
Refreshing your memory, Sylvester died in November 2021 after allegedly being bullied by his seniørs in the Lagos school. The school management, however, debunked the reports, alleging that the boy sustained injuries while playing football with his schoolmates.
This led to a court battle between the parents of the deceased and the school management as his parents argued that their son had no health issues before the unfortunate incident.
In 2021, his father, Sylvester Oromoni Snr maintained that his son wouldn’t be buried until he gets justice.
Autopsy revealed in January 2022 that the 12-year-old Dowen Student died from ‘acute lung injury from chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force’.
The Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Lagos released a second result ruling that his death was natural and this has led to a back and forth with the family.
After two years, the parents of the deceased have finally laid him to rest today, January 27th in Delta, and his burial attracted dignitaries which included Huma Rights activist, Femi Falana.
Mixed reactions as trailed videos of the burial as many questioned why a young lad would be given a grand burial.
