The only way to accurately determine the model of a vehicle is to decode the vehicle’s original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
The VIN is made up of 17 characters, this number or characters can be located on multiple places on each vehicle depending on the product and manufacturer, some places it is visible while others are purposefully hidden.
You can find it
1. Owner’s manual
2. The dashboard (left corner)
3. Front of the engine block
4. Rear wheel well
5. Looking through the windshield of the drivers side
6. At the trunk when you raise the spare tyre.
The first letter or digit identifies the country of origin, cars made in the United States start with 1,4 or 5, those made in Canada starts with 2, Mexico is 3, Japan is J, South Korea is K, England is S, Germany is W, and Sweden and Finland is Y
The second letter tells you the manufacturer, A for Audi, B is for BMW, G is for General motors, L is for for Lincoln, N is for Nissan, A is for Jaguar or Mitsubishi
The third digit when combined with the first two indicates the vehicles type or manufacturing division.
But you can find the character that depicts the year model of a vehicle by either counting the 10th character from the left or the eight character from the right.
The Year starts with
1980/2010 as A
1981/2011 as B
1982/2012 as C
1983/2013 as D
1984/2014 as E
While
2001/2031 as 1

2003/2033 as 3

Although the Letters I,O,U, Z and Q while the number 0 is not also used.
