Actor Jimmy Odukoya, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Taiwo Odukayo, has been named the senior pastor and chairperson of the board at the Fountain Of Life Church.
The announcement was made on Sunday at the Church’s headquarters by pastor Rotimi Okpaise, who made it known that pastor Taiwo Odukayo told the board of directors about his succession before his demise on August 7, 2023.

Jimmy Odukoya is the son of Mr. Taiwo and Mrs. Bimbo Odukoya, the founder of Fountain Of Life Church which has its headquarters in Lagos.
The ‘Woman King Antagonist’ was born on April 27, but the year he was born is not known. Actor Jimmy is the first child of his late parents, a native of Kaduna state who was born in Lagos State.
He graduated from Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, Oklahoma United States, where he studied business administration Jimmy is a Nollywood actor, Gospel rapper, motivational speaker, pastor and also relationship coach.
While still residing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jimmy received a call to the ministry. He then joined the Greenwood Christian Center, now known as Transformation Church, which is led by Bishop Gary and Debbie McIntosh. He became actively involved in church affairs, giving talks at yearly conferences and helping the ministry expand.
Upon his return to Nigeria in 2010, he became the assistant Pastor of the Youth Ministry of the Fountain Of Life Church.
Since receiving his pastoral ordination in 2013, Jimmy Odukoya has worked as a pastor at the Fountain of Life Church. He is renowned for his love of youth ministry and dedication to imparting the Bible in a timely and relevant manner.
March 9, 2013, he wedded Oluwakemi Folashade Banjoko, now Mrs. Odukoya. Their union produced 2 children, a boy and a girl.
Actor Jimmy Odukoya is to officially start his duties as the senior pastor on the 30th of September, 2023. Pastor Okpaise made this announcement while the church cheered him on.
However, this announcement has sparked a lot of discussion online about why a person who most people assume is unrelated to pastoral work has ironically been appointed as a senior pastor in a church.
Furthermore, these viewpoints appear to be rooted in some people’s conceptions of Christians. Although actor Jimmy has been linked to Nollywood, music, and motivational speaking, several people were unaware that he had previously served as a pastor before beginning his profession.
Some people were still trying to get in terms that he had been a pastor all along when this news came to them.
The general public disagrees that a pastor should play the lead role in films like “The Woman King,” “Oga Pastor,” “I Am Nazzy,” etc. that pastor Jimmy has chosen. Jimmy, an actor, has a different viewpoint.
In an interview he had in 2021, with Actress Iretiola Doyle being the anchor, he made it clear that being a pastor has no way of affecting his career and that being a Christian does not mean he should act only in Christian movies.
This might seem like an irony to some Christians but it looks like the narratives are about to change.
