An unidentified man stormed the Peter Obi campaign rally in Ibadan with a dagger. Speculations have it that he came with the intent to harm or even murder Mr Peter Obi.

At the campaign ground in Ibadan, Oyo State, several thousands of supporters of Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, were present in solidarity with Mr Peter Obi.

Peter Obi had earlier regarded the campaign at Ibadan as the mother of all rallies. As he said on his social media page,

“Today, the OBIdient train has rolled into Oyo. It will be the Mother of all rallies. My team and I are looking forward to a huge rally; the non-believers will come to believe. We are taking back Naija”.

However, it was gathered that during the campaign, an unidentified man stormed the campaign ground with his weapon concealed in his clothes. He stood on the path Peter Obi would cross through.
A Twitter user, @BishopPOEvang , said he saw the strange man and called in security personnel..

“How we unarmed a guy who was not a security personnel today. He was standing on the way @peterobi would pass. @BishopPOEvang noticed it and called in secretary operatives”

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL has condemned the attempt of the unidentified man who stormed the campaign ground with a dagger.

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has reacted to the incident by issuing a statement from the desk of its president general, Goodluck Ibem, accusing supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC of scheming to harm Peter Ovi

A part of the statement reads: “We warn those assassins who parade as politicians to bury such evil thought of planning any evil on Peter Obi because there will be dire consequences if any little scratch touches Peter Obi’s skin.
“Peter Obi is the face of the new Nigeria which Nigerians are waiting for to move them to the Promised land.
“We, therefore, demand an independent investigation of that young man who came with a dagger to assassinate Mr Peter Obi in the Ibadan LP rally and was arrested by the security operatives.”

All efforts to reach the Oyo Police Command for reactions or any interview on the matter have proved unfruitful as the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso failed to pick up his calls.

What Do You Think? Do you share the same thought that it was his opponent?
