Growing threats of violence has made organizers rethink by canceling the highly anticipated appearance.

The Grammy nominated Nigerian musician, Burna Boy, is making headlines again. His upcoming performances at the Africa Unite concerts in Cape Town and Pretoria, meant to take place this weekend, have been cancelled.

This comes after mounting calls for the artist to apologise for comments he made during recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa saying he would never again set foot in South Africa and urging foreign nationals to defend themselves.

Earlier, we reported the statement credited to Burna Boy saying he will have to be killed rather than staying away from the event. Although, the singer wanted to go ahead, organizers were not going to risk people’s lives.
