The dangers of diluted Christianity!

“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!” Rev 3:15-16.

If we consider the Acts of the Apostles as the beginning of Christianity, then we can conclude that our forebears of faith practiced what we could consider pure, unadulterated, unpolluted and undiluted Christianity. The Christianity that was characterized by the Acts of the Holy Ghost, daily occurring miracles, uncommon expansion of the church, 3,000 souls today; 5, 0000 tomorrow joining the church without all the hype of social media and marketing. Christianity where they had all things in common, Christianity where people sold properties to advance the cause of the kingdom. Christianity where shadows and aprons of ministers were healing without faking it. Christianity where you dare not lie to the Holy Ghost or you die instantly. Pure Christianity that was about how to reach the entire world with the gospel through missionary trips one after the other . “So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.” Acts 11:26

The danger of diluted material is that it can never be like the concentrated or original one. The taste will go awry. The look is undefined. The saddest thing is that it cannot achieve the same purpose as the original! For instance, if you are supposed to ingest 100 percent concentration of a particular medication and you dilute it for whatever reason, you are wasting your time, you cannot get the desired result.

Jesus said to the Church in Laodecia you are either hot or cold, I cannot place lukewarmness, the dilution, the neither hot nor cold . It is what the Yorubas say you can choose to be “osokolo“or “osakala ” you cannot be “osokolosakala.” Means you cannot be a combination of unconbinable combinations.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians; if you are quarrelling on who belongs to Cephas, Appolo or Peter, you have diluted the gospel. He wrote to the Galatians; if your Christianity is based on traditions of men, the law of this idol or that, you have a polluted gospel version. Paul wrote to the Romans; if you disorientate yourself with the issue of homosexuality, lesbianism or transgender you have polluted Christianity. John was more direct: “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1Jn 4-7-8.

How do you know if you have diluted Christianity? John the beloved helps us:

“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 Jn 2: 15-17.

The story was told about a man that was bitten by a dog and contacted rabies in the days when it was a terminal disease. The doctor told him to write his will. He took a paper and started to write. When the doctor returned after about an hour and he was still writing the doctor commended him for writing a detailed will. The man said he was not writing his will but writing the list of those he will bite and transfer rabies to, before he died.

Diluted Christianity makes us to hate people we are supposed to love. It is self-centred, self- seeking, self glorifying Christianity.!

What John is saying is simple, you endanger your Christianity when your priority is worldly! When you have character and moral deficiency. When you cannot be trusted, at home, in the office and especially in the church. You have diluted Christianity when you drink sin as if you drink water even though you go to church regularly and even donate generously. You have diluted Christianity when as a civil servant, politician or corporate personality you are always compromising, engaging in corrupt practices, embezzlement, misappropriation of funds . You have polluted Christianity when prayer, fellowship and reading the word of God becomes anathema to you.

This dangerous diluted Christianity has made us a laughing stock to the world. It has rendered us powerless. There is no more church growth. Like the Israelites of Gideon’s generation we are hiding from our enemies! We cannot say to the crippled “arise and walk”. We cannot make disciples of nations , the nations are discipling us. Those who believe in LQGBT2 cannot reproduce and give birth lo living souls. When ministers make altar calls no one responds because they can see the fake life of the pastors. Diluted Christianity is responsible for high divorce rate in Christendom.

Part of the danger of diluted Christianity is the reason why choir ministration is mere entertainment and does not bring the glory of God down or lead souls to conviction of their souls . It is what makes ministers to look for powers from marabout, herbalists , necromancers and voodooists to perform miracles in churches. It is responsible for lack of evangelism and so one church splits to X number of branches circulating the same number of people among the churches and we think we have church growth.

It is what has produced Yahoo Yahoo boys and girls instead of fanatical youth that will do anything to win souls . Diluted Christianity is what makes the church to copy worldly dressing, and mannerism that makes unbelievers run away from the church. Diluted Christianity is why responsible positions cannot be given to you and I in the marketplace.

Conclusion: Brethren let us return to that pure Christianity that preaches the genuine gospel . That gets people converted. That helps the youth to fear God, shun materialistic tendencies and run away from all manner of crimes. Let us have pure Christianity where ministers teach on holiness, righteousness and integrity. Christianity that will emphasize responsibilities and not just blessings and prosperity. Let the minsters put emphasis on running away from sin as distinguished from running to sin. Let the ministers preach authentic Christianity that will make the youth go from one city to the other not in search of spiritual ventures that will turn the world upside down and make the unbelievers call us Christians again, as they did in Antioch. Acts 11:26. Let us practice genuine Christianity that will bless you , make you a blessing and also herald the coming of the Lord and make God happy!

Shalom!
