The U. S Lawmaker Ted Cruz Condemns the California Governor, Gavin Newsom’s Press Office for Personal Attack on the billionaire Elon Musk Over Transgender Child

 On December 12-13, 2025; A heated online feud erupted between California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office  and the former of Twitter Elon Musk, drawing sharp criticism from the U.S. Senator Ted Cruz . The dispute began on December 11 when  billionaire, Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, shared a clip of  the California Governor,Newsom boasting about his support for transgender rights. The California Governor’s official press account responded with a personal jab referencing the billionaire, Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, prompting backlash and responses from both  the former of X, Musk and the lawmaker, Cruz.

However, the U. S lawmaker called the remark unacceptable, posting on X: “Sick bastard. Gavin, tell your henchmen to leave the kids alone.” His comment quickly gained traction among conservative users who viewed the press office’s statement as crossing a line into family matters.

The former of X,Musk responded directly, deadnaming his child and framing the transition as influenced by what he calls the “woke mind virus,” while expressing love for the child.

Origins of the Dispute

The exchange started when America PAC reposted a video from the Governor Newsom’s interview on his podcast This is Governor Gavin Newsom, where he discussed transgender issues. 

He stated: “I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than have.”

After the governor Newsom’s pro-trans remarks were reshared by the billionaire Musk’s America PAC, the official Gavin Newsom Press Office account wrote on X, 

“We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon.”

That line was widely interpreted as an attempt to taunt Musk by weaponizing his private family dynamics in the midst of a political fight. 

The comment alluded to the billionaire, Musk’s strained relationship with his transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender in 2022, distancing herself from her father.

 The technology entrepreneur Elon Musk’s response

He replied on December 12: “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children. I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers.”

He added: “My daughters are Azure, Exa (she goes by Y) and Arcadia, and they do indeed love me very much.”

Identically, he has previously described his child’s transition as a loss influenced by ideology, claiming he was “tricked” into approving related documents.

Background on Vivian Jenna Wilson

Vivian Jenna Wilson, born in 2004; one of the billionaire, Elon Musk’s 14 children. Previously known as Xavier Musk, Vivian publicly came out as transgender in 2022 and legally changed her name and gender identity. She also chose to take her mother’s last name, severing legal ties with Musk in the process. 

The transition was reported as part of Vivian’s authentic gender identity journey, a deeply personal process that people pursue when their gender identity does not align with their sex assigned at birth. Vivian has since pursued work in modeling and public life and has publicly distanced herself from Musk, criticizing his reaction and stance on her transition. 

In the recent online feud, her responded by deadnaming his child referring to her by her birth name and framing her transgender identity as “a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children.” He also reaffirmed his love for Vivian while promoting a politically charged narrative opposing transgender ideology. 

The family estrangement has been a recurring topic in technology entrepreneur Musk’s public commentary on gender ideology and youth transitions.
