The mission and vision statement are the foundation for your business and how it connects with customers.

For most start up and business owners, they really don’t pay attention to their mission and vision statement because they feel it doesn’t matter.

Vision statement answers what the hopes of the company are, the problems the company is trying to solve for the greater good, who and what they are inspiring to change.

A vision statement focuses on tomorrow and what the organization does to achieve it.

But company’s values are the heartbeat of any business, this reflect what the company and employees stand for, every decision any employee should make has to be aligned with the company’s value, values make employees know what the company stands for.

The decisions made by a company’s value guides them to achieve the mission and vision in the long run.

Imagine a company that produces electric cars.

Vision: To become part of the best three manufacturing companies that produces sustainable cars that are environment friendly.

Mission: To make use of environment friendly equipment to produce a stylish car that doesn’t consume fossil fuel or affect the atmosphere

Value: Eco-friendliness and sustainability

The value of this company would be around eco friendly products, which means that every employee in that company would gladly reject millions provided it affects the environment because it isn’t their value.

Values also help clients to understand what the company stands for, it also helps the company to attract the right talents who also believe in those values as well, so it would be easier for the company with the value above to attract employees and also customers that are also believers of eco friendliness.

Values lay foundation for what the company cares about most, most companies with great talent acquisition and retention are those with values, it also allows the company to track their customer satisfaction based on whatever it is that is their value.

One time a manager of a conglomerate had to resign because the company behaved in a way that wasn’t consistent with their proclaimed value and to show how sorry they were, the manager took responsibility of his incompetence and stepped down.
