THE REASON WHY WE CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY

The Valentine’s day has become a day for romance, but if the purpose of a thing isn’t known then abuse is inevitable,

Today we have alot of wrong things done on this same day all in the name of love and we shouldn’t be surprised if they repeat themselves this year even though it’s happening on a Tuesday.

So Valentine is actually the name of a martyr, two actually who happened to die on the same date, different year for almost the same reason which is love.

But one of the Martyr’s story that got my attention was that of Claudius II who found out that single men were more dedicated to war than married men whom he thought were probably missing their wives and family.

So the ruler banned marriage during that period but Valentine was a “preacher of love” and so he secretly got men and women married because he truly was a believer of “love”

Unfortunately his deeds were found and he was put in jail, where he found love, he fell for the jailer’s daughter. So he was imprisoned by a family, father took care of his imprisoned body while the Jailer’s daughter imprisoned his heart.

One also should note that February 14th was also the day that Valentine was executed. He died for love on the day people practice lust.

Before he died, he left a letter for the Jailer’s daughter which he ended with “from your Valentine”

This made his name become the official title for this special day,

So when someone asks you “Will you be my Val?” Lol. Kindly tell them “No” or would you want to die on February 14th for them?

Okay I was joking about that part, but you need to take this Valentine’s day very special because someone died so that people would truly marry and be in love with themselves forever. It would be a shame to dishonour the day with lust…

There are different ways to honour this day, you can however play board games with a loved one, or a question session with mentors, relationship coaches.

You can also go out with your loved ones to a restaurant, fast food etc. Go see a movie about love like the passion of Christ, grace unplugged, Love comes softly, war room, I still Believe, No greater love, Amazing Love

Or send a card with lovely notes, or probably send someone a surprise package.. get them a gift they have been dying to get.

But it all depends on your love language, some people would prefer that they just had you to themselves for the whole day,

But you know there are persons who don’t have the opportunity to have a valentine gift, people at the prisons, the refugees, the orphans, you can send it to them to help the feel loved, remember Valentine died for this day and it is basically his Day so let’s just do what he would have wanted.

Lastly no greater love has a man for his friends than to lay down his life for them.

Scarcely would a man die for a good man, let us also not forget Christ who died for us while we were yet sinners, behold what manner of love

You owe no man nothing but Love (Romans 12:8)
