Just bear with me, I’ll show you the beauty of questions, some years ago, Mike Murdock came to Nigeria, specifically to Salvation Ministries to spend some time with the church there, and he was asked to minister in a business session and he taught one of the most powerful sermons I’ve been blessed to listen to in my entire Life. The topic was “the difference in men”
He spoke about alot of things that would take time to explain in this little post but he also said “every crisis can be dismantled with questions”
đ„Why did this happen?
đ„ What caused this to happen?
đ„When did this happen?
đ„How can I prevent this from happening again?
That whatever challenge you are going through can be dismantled by asking the relevant questions, notice that I included the word relevant there, because to get the right answers, you need to ask the right questions.
If you want to know about my age, then you should stop asking about my heights.
Funny how we live in a world where people who ask questions are seen as dunces, I remember when I was still in school, we had this particular course mate that would always register his presence by asking questions, at first I thought he did it for the attention, I must confess that it pissed me off at some point but at a time, I began to see his wisdom, while we were in a hurry to allow the teacher to go, this student knew he paid to learn and until he learnt, the fees paid would be a waste and wise tutors know this.
Have you bothered to ask how gravity was discovered? well it was because someone bothered to ask why apples fell from trees, it was a funny question but a question that broke the answer to gravitational force.
A long time ago, a man named Archimedes was asked by the king to verify if a crown made by a goldsmith was made from pure gold without damaging the crown, there were alot of alloys so the king wanted to be sure that the gold was actually made from pure gold and not an alloy, while Archimedes pondered on this, he stepped into his bath and water poured from the bathtub to the floor and while he asked why the water increased, he got an answer that brought about the principle of buoyancy that made him run naked to the King’s palace screaming “Eureka” which is translated ‘I have found it’
The holy scripture record that ‘if you ask you shall receive’ could it be that the reason you haven’t known is that you haven’t asked a question.
Did you know that as weird as the question Nicodemus asked Jesus at night, “How can a man be born again?” was what brought about the answer to getting eternal life, the famous John 3:16 that we always quote. Yea I know you didn’t really see it that way.
Isaac on his way to the mountain, asked his father where the sacrifice was and Abraham answered, the Lord will provide and God truly provided…
Sometimes, creativity comes out of curiosity, how would someone know that metal could float on water and that metal could fly in the air if they didn’t ask relevant questions, please ask questions, but most importantly ask yourself relevant questions like
âWhat am I on earth for?
âWhat can I do to better the lives of people around me?
Jesus always answered questions with questions, I think he was a man that understood the beauty of asking oneself questions,
When he was asked if it was better to pay tax or tithes, he asked for a coin and asked whose face was on it.
When he was asked if he was the Messiah, he asked them who John was? Because sometimes it takes a question to really see how foolish we have been (No offence)
Make out time to meditate on questions, and you’ll see how that would help you, or rather have friends who ask you questions about what you do, question what you do but also question why.
Simon Sinek wrote a book titled “Start with why” while Tim Lahaye wrote a book titled “Why you act the way you do”
These two books have shaped alot of minds because of a question so powerful that it questioned the reason why you would want to do what you want to do.
