It is with a heavy heart, worry about all Nigerians in Canada and a sense of impending doom that I am sending this message to my colleagues in Canada .

REVEALED: How Nigerian passport is ranked in the World

Let me begin with a question, what exactly will we gain if Nigeria High Commission were to get to charge all Nigerians in Canada $10 per year ?

How does it advance us?

Is the Nigeria High Commission going to open a Consulate in Toronto and maybe Calgary with this fund?

Let me even assume that a few of us don’t believe that we have a say because it is supposed to be a directive from Nigeria.

Logically, How does paying $250 extra above the $100 for a Nigerian Passport that is being paid directly to Nigeria Immigration Services achieve this objective in a way that guarantees the outcome you want?

We have to be our brother’s keepers
We live in Canada 🇨🇦 where we know our rights and transparency and accountability are important.

For sometime now, many of us have thrown away the book on Moral Change and fight against corruption, propelled by emotion, we have betrayed every moral consideration that assigns our noble cause on leadership, a role so significant we are seen as the last hope of the common man, our elders and the students.

Despite numerous examples that exist which have proved, including not too long ago at the Tollgate in Nigeria, that the young people can help in, promoting, starting a new Nigeria that is against systemic extortion ( Soro SOKE), we should not turned a deaf ear to the pleas to pushback on these charges.

We need to lead calmly and rationally discuss the existential challenges we face with a view to achieving actionable solutions that does not succumb to hysteria.

Since the late Chief Ojo Maduekwe as our Ambassador, this place called Nigeria High Commission has been performing relatively good, same day service for FREE. Now they want to charge $250

This NHC has given many of us more pride than the majority of other Nigeria Embassies across the world.

We must come together to hold them accountable now.

Once these charges are made to stay, they can only go up incrementally, not down despite the pains it creates on the students and the poor among us that needs their Nigerian Passport.

Our job is to hold power accountable and it is exactly what it should be.
The focus on those in charge, should be relentless and loud and insistent.

The ignoble role we are now playing in stopping these charges is for the future of our children. We are the ones that the students could rely on to lift our voices, together for the betterment of all Nigerians in Canada.

We must stand up against dictatorship, or unilateral government decrees that tries to perpetuate themselves in office.
