Barman Cubana Chief Priest opens up on fallout with singer Burna Boy
The long-running feud between nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest and Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has once again captured public attention after the socialite opened up about what he believes caused their friendship to collapse.
Speaking during a recent interview, Cubana Chief Priest alleged that Burna Boy’s resentment stemmed from his close relationship with fellow music star Davido, insisting that he never initiated any conflict with the Grammy-winning singer.
“I was on my own and he came for me”
Reflecting on the beginning of their dispute, Cubana Chief Priest maintained that he was minding his business when singer Burna Boy allegedly started targeting him.
According to him,
“My whole issue with Burna Boy started because he is Jealous of Me”
He further claimed:
“I was on my own, everybody saw it. He came for me. We used to be friends, but things changed.”
The celebrity barman suggested that his unwavering loyalty to singer Davido may have created tension between him and singer Burna Boy, whom he described as someone who wanted him in his circle.
In his words
“He wanted CP by his side, but I chose Davido. Davido and I have never sat down to discuss Burna Boy.”
From Friendship to Public Feud
What makes the situation even more surprising is that both men were once seen as friends and associates within Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
However, their relationship gradually deteriorated and eventually exploded into a series of public confrontations on social media, where accusations, mockery, and personal attacks were exchanged.
The dispute quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity feuds in the country, drawing reactions from fans, critics, and industry observers alike.
According to the Chief Priest, he never anticipated that their friendship would end in such a dramatic fashion.
While singer Burna Boy has engaged in public exchanges with Cubana Chief Priest in the past, the singer has not publicly responded to the latest allegation that jealousy over singer Davido was responsible for their fallout.
During previous online confrontations, singer Burna Boy reportedly mocked and criticized the socialite, leading to several rounds of heated back-and-forth exchanges between both camps.
However, no verified statement has emerged in which Burna Boy directly confirms or addresses Chief Priest’s claim that he was envious of the relationship between him and singer Davido.
As a result, the allegation remains Cubana Chief Priest’s personal account of what transpired between them.
Fans Rally Behind Cubana Chief Priest
Many supporters of the socialite have defended his position, arguing that loyalty is one of the qualities that has made him popular among celebrities and fans alike.
One supporter wrote:
“Cubana Chief Priest has always stood by Davido publicly. Loyalty is rare these days, and that’s why people respect him.”
Another commented:
“Whether you love him or hate him, CP has built a strong brand for himself. Nobody can take that away from him.”
Others praised him for speaking openly about the situation and standing firm on his convictions despite criticism.
Burna Boy’s Loyal Fans Push Back
Burna Boy’s supporters, however, strongly disagreed with the allegations.
One fan stated:
“Burna Boy is one of Africa’s biggest artists. It is difficult to believe that he would be jealous of anyone’s friendship.”
Another added:
“Success should not automatically be interpreted as jealousy. There are always two sides to every story.”
Several fans also pointed out that Burna Boy has yet to publicly respond to the latest remarks and urged people not to rush to judgment.
Critics Say Both Men Should Move On
Beyond the loyal supporters on both sides, many observers believe the feud has lasted far too long.
Some critics argued that both celebrities should focus on their careers and achievements rather than revisiting old disagreements.
One observer remarked:
“The entertainment industry needs more collaboration and less controversy.”
Another wrote:
“At some point, both men have to move forward. The public feud has gone on long enough.”
The rift between Cubana Chief Priest and singer Burna Boy remains one of the most discussed celebrity conflicts in recent Nigerian entertainment history. While Chief Priest insists that jealousy over his friendship with singer Davido was the spark that ignited the fallout, Burna Boy has yet to publicly address that specific claim.
Until both sides fully tell their stories, the debate will likely continue among fans. What remains undeniable, however, is that a friendship that once appeared strong has evolved into one of the industry’s most public and enduring rivalries.
