This is the season of Valentine, one normally known for love but funny enough, the history of Valentine’s day wasn’t necessary to celebrate our loved ones but to immortalize the death of St Valentine, a man who gave his life to see lovers together.
But today’s not about the history of St Valentine but what really comes to our mind when people hear relationship, romance?
Relationship is not just about romance but something much bigger, it’s about relating with people, family, colleagues, neighbors etc
However there are factors that must be in place for any relationship to blossom into something that can last and outlast challenges.
Communication
How well do you communicate with people around you, communication fuels relationship, how does one relate with someone that they can’t even communicate effectively with.
You must consciously create time to communicate with anyone that you want to build a relationship with
Trust
the people you want to build a relationship with must trust you and you must trust them as well. You must trust that they won’t disappoint you, there’s a level of trust a relationship needs for each parties to be vulnerable enough to share things amongst themselves.
You can measure trust by what your partner tells you and how sensitive those information are but trust has to be earned first.
Commitment
Every strong relationship needs commitment from the parties involved to make it work. How committed you are to your partner or friend is seen in what you are willing to sacrifice to see that the relationship works, as much as what you are willing to tolerate.
Love
Love isn’t necessarily emotions, Love is an action word, you show love by giving it your best, by being patient with them in spite of their shortcomings, the truth is that there is no perfect person anywhere and even I who is the author of this article am not even perfect at all.
Only God is perfect yet even some people still fault him in his just judgement. How much more us that are earthen vessels.
