A former Counter-Terrorism Officer, Detective Neil Corbel, has been jailed for three years, after being found guilty of 19 Voyeurism Offences.

Judge Martin Edmunds (QC), on Friday, jailed Corbel for a period of three years at Isleworth Crown Court for the offenses across the London, Manchester, and Brighton areas between January 2017 and February 2020.

Corbel would pose as an airline pilot, to book unsuspecting models and escorts for photoshoots, before planting spy cameras in hotel rooms, flats and Airbnbs.

The cameras were often deployed stealthily in several gadgets such as tissue boxes, headphones, phone chargers, glasses, keys, air fresheners, and other household items.

Upon his arrest, the 40-year old married father-of-two confessed he was addicted to pornography, just as police uncovered files of 51 women on Corbel’s hard drive, with some of the videos spanning up to 4 hours.

Judge Edmonds (QC) had affirmed, “You used a range of deceptions to induce women to take off their clothes in your presence so you could record videos for your sexual gratification.

It is clear that you derived satisfaction from breaching personal boundaries by committing these offenses rather than seeking out persons who might have offered the opportunity to video them without deception.”

This devious derring-do stumps on the heels of people’s affectionate distrust in cops, who are by law empowered to contain our sanity, and not blow it out of proportion.

“The fact that he is a policeman is a huge deal. These people are meant to protect us… this feels like a very frightening time to be a woman,” said one of the 19 victims who testified against Corbel.

Corbel, who was formerly attached to the Metropolitan Continuous Policing Improvement Command prior to his suspension, met his waterloo after a model became suspicious of a digital clock.

An internet search of the brand name revealed the suspicious device was a high-end spyware video-recording device that could be controlled from a smartphone.
