The prestigious Rivers State University in Nigeria loses a 400 hundred level student.

The victim who was identified as a student of the Engineering Faculty, name withheld, was gunned down on Thursday morning.

Rivers State University formerly known as the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, situated in the heart of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Nigeria, has been known for notorious operations by defiant cult members who are students. However, over the last decade, there has been a decline in their upheaval activities due to government intervention.

The unfortunate event took place at about 9:00 am WAT on Thursday, 19th of August 2021.

According to an eyewitness, the victim was shot in the head while having breakfast with his friends at a small cafeteria known as Gavida Joint in the Faculty of Management Sciences.

The witness further added that the victim instantly died after the point-black shot, leaving a massive gruesome pool of blood to the dismay of other students.

The culprit was identified as a 200 level student in the Department of Management by the name Mike Odiegwu. He was quickly apprehended by brave students who later handed him over to the police. He is currently detained in the Mile One Police station, Port Harcourt.

Mike Odiegwu had stormed the cafeteria that morning with his gang to settle a fraternity related issue with the victim. There have been assumptions that the gruesome act had happened due to a trivial issue concerning bottled water.

However, more sources revealed that cultism is involved in the case.

Additionally, Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police Command Public Relations officer confirmed the incident. He stated that a manhunt is on to round off the other members of the gang.

He said, “I can confirm the incident this morning at the Rivers State University, one suspect has been arrested. And the commissioner of police–Eboka Friday has launched a manhunt to arrest other fleeing suspects. They will be fished out. There is calm in the school. We have restored normalcy.”

With our fingers crossed and our tongues tutting, we wait for justice to have its course.
