Stephen Mark Flynn is an eminent Scottish politician who has served as the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) in the House of Commons since December 2022. He has thus been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aberdeen South since the 2019 general election. He announced in December 2022 his intention to run in the election to succeed Ian Blackford as the SNP Westminster leader. And went on to defeat Alison Thewliss to become a leader.

Following this election, he was immediately appointed to the role of Shadow Chief Financial Secretary to the Treasury. In February 2021, he was promoted to the front bench as SNP Spokesperson for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
