The word peace embodies calmness,gentleness, patience and forgiveness,these singular qualities encapsulate the peaceful heart.

A man cannot demonstrate those qualities if he has not conquered Self with all of its trappings.Self is loud,impatient,unforgiving,revengeful and always wants to assert itself,it runs parallel to the virtues of peace.To be calm,is to be quiet inward.A man shows forth this virtue to the extent that he has overcome inward strife.

True calmness is not sitting still or reticence but quietness of the mind.It entails not being in a hurry to react to outward circumstances but taking time to understand a situation from both sides before reacting to it.The calm are not swayed by immediate passion,they have their emotions under control and every deed or word is measured before undertaken.

Calmness is one of the fruits of peacefulness.Gentleness is tenderness,softeness of words or deeds,putting our feet in the shoes of the other man,treating the other man,whether enemy or friend as we would wish to be treated.

Gentleness is not timidity but realization of the fact that we must not court the services of our lower self to make a point.forgiveness is synonymous to peacefulness for a man can not be peaceful unless he can forgive.

Peacemakes can give up their own rights for peace,they are not ashamed to turn the other cheek.The vain may call them cowards or fools but they know that blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

These singular realities embody the heart of the peaceful man.
