John’s love story seems like their match was already made in heaven.
John Legend met his wife Chrissy Teigen on the set of his music video for “Stereo” where she played the role of his muse. At the time he was 28 years old and Chrissy was 20 years old.
They eventually got married after dating for a while, and their union produced 4 children, which according to Chrissy Teigen has always been her dream.
However, the fourth child came via a surrogate because Chrissy couldn’t afford to carry another child as she feared it would put the child’s life and hers in danger.
She had previously lost her unborn baby in 2020, after the doctors confirmed the pregnancy wasn’t safe for her or the unborn child. At the time of this mishap she only had 2 children.
Chrissy Teigen, wife of the artist, took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the birth of their fourth child, which occurred on the 19th of June 2023.
Her Instagram post wrote,
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” the model wrote. “As a little girl, 2 glow worms and 2 cabbage patch dolls were perpetually in my arms, helping me stir in my pretend kitchen.
After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” she continued. “To be honest, I’ve personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again.”
The couple decided to find 2 surrogates to carry their third and fourth children after the premature loss of their unborn child.
However, in the early stages of their surrogacy, Chrissy changed her mind saying she wanted to try conceiving one more time and John supported her change of mind which produced their third child, Esti Maxine Stephens.
She further wrote,
“Around this same time, we also met the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine, Alexandra,” Teigen said. “I knew she was a perfect match for us the moment we spoke to her.
“The first embryo we tried with Alex didn’t survive, and I will never forget how hard she fought to get ready for a second transfer,” the model said. “As we crept toward the safe zone of my own pregnancy, we were overjoyed to learn Alexandra had become pregnant with a little boy. Our little boy.
“We ate hot pot to celebrate, watched Vanderpump Rules with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year.
Just minutes before midnight on June 19th, I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength and pure joy and love.”
Chrissy finally got her dreams in fulfilment. They named him after their surrogate Alexandra, his name is Wren Alexander Stephens.
The atmosphere in John’s home must be brewing happiness and fulfilment.
