Mrs Bolanle Raheem, who died after being shot by a policeman on Christmas Day, was buried in the Ikoyi neighbourhood of Lagos State.
A police officer fatally shot Raheem on Christmas Day 2022 as she was returning from an outing with her family.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Olive branch parish, Banana Island, Lagos, hosted her funeral ceremony.
On January 14, 2023, the deceased’s family laid her to rest. She was interred at the Lekki-Epe expressway’s vaults and garden cemetery.
The late lawyer’s funeral was attended by friends, family, attorneys, and coworkers.
Okechukwu Enelamah, a former minister of industry, trade, and investment, preached at the funeral service and claimed the deceased’s “very brief life” was full of significant effects.
According to Mr Enelamah, the circumstances surrounding the lawyer’s death sparked widespread reactions that will result in societal improvements.
At the Lagos State High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square annex, the trial of Assistant Superintendent of Police Drambi Vandi, who is accused of killing her, began on Monday. He entered a not-guilty plea to the lone murder charge.
Nigerians, however, hope that the reason for her death will not be overlooked and that the police officer will be punished appropriately.
