Victor Oye, National Chairman Of The All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) has implored all party members in Nigeria and Diaspora to pray and fast for 3 days for the Anambra State House Of Assembly, to prevent what he called “The hand of death that has struck the house” after the sudden death encountered by two (2) members of the house between 3 months.Nnamdi Okafor, the majority leader of the Assembly collapsed on Wednesday morning in a hotel in Sandton City, Johannesburg, South Africa, and later received a death confirmation. He died on a legislative retreat he attended in South Africa.Okechukwu Okoye, a lawmaker for the Aguata Constituency, elected to the State Assembly in 2015 via the APGA ticket, and was already serving his second term, was kidnapped alongside his assistant Cyril Chiegboka at Aguluigbo Road in the Anaocha Local Government Area of the state. Okoye and his assistant Cyril, were later killed six days after their kidnap.Three months had passed since the beheading of another Assemblyman, Okechukwu Okoye, before his death. Okoye represented Constituency 2 in Aguata. The deaths of these lawmakers has reduced the number of the lawmakers to 28.These two(2) deaths within 3 months has called the attention of the National Chairman Of The All Progressives Grand Alliance and brought about his decision for a three(3) days fast and prayers to be conducted by party members, “The times in which we have found ourselves are perilous and call for constant prayer, self-examination and penance”, as he said in a press statement. He beckoned on the Anambra State Of Assembly’s leadership to join hands to pray and fast in preparation for the 2023 elections to ensure peace, progress, and development in the party and inside the house. He further conveyed his consolations on the deaths of the majority leader to the Speaker of the house, Uche Okafor.Mr Victor Oye has shown great concern towards his Anambra State House Of Assembly. If APGA had joined hands to pray and fast earlier, do you feel the victims would still have died?
