Wine, 38, who made this known in a tweet on Monday, also revealed soldiers prevented the US ambassador to Uganda from seeing him in his house earlier in the day.
“This afternoon, the US Ambassador to Uganda made an effort to visit me but was turned away from my gate by the soldiers who have held me and my wife captive for the past five days,” he tweeted.
This development comes days after President Museveni was declared winner of the Presidential election on Saturday that was marred with violence, and allegations of rigging levelled by the opposition.
Museveni, who has been President of Uganda since 1986, was declared winner of the election but Bobi Wine rejected the results.
“I am very confident that we defeated the dictator by far. I call upon all Ugandans to reject the blackmail. We have certainly won the election and we’ve won it by far.
“The people of Uganda voted massively for change of leadership from a dictatorship to a democratic government. But Mr. Museveni is trying to paint a picture that he is in the lead. What a joke,” he told newsmen in Kampala, the nation’s capital
Recall that the Ugandan authorities had shut down the internet 48 hours before the commencement of the election and restored it two days after the incumbent President was declared the winner.
