I’ve been married twice, and both wives cheated. Why?

In my almost six decades of existence, I’ve come to realize there is a plethora of reasons why.

  • Bored of their sex life. They want something different.
  • The thrill of doing something illicit.
  • To get even for some real or imagined slight.
  • Testing out a chance at replacing what they have with something younger and more free in bed.

Given the opportunity, a person will go with someone who looks a little nicer, takes better care of themselves, or will do things in bed that the spouse won’t that they crave.

This is not an endorsement of cheating behavior. Cheating can destroy the family, and hurt the kids.

Far too many people come into a marriage like a tick on a hound…only to find out there are two ticks and NO hound. Marriage requires maintenance to keep the bond of matrimony alive.

Sounds like your dad took the easy way to sex/intimacy because he didn’t want to do the work.

You are totally correct. I’ve been married twice, 10 years between the two marriages. Marriage is a full time job even for the unemployed who have no job outside the house. Because the house/apartment always needs maintenance, chores, need to be done, that’s actually where the rubber meets the road, there is no such thing as gender based work in a relationship, at least do your own laundry instead of leaving it to your spouse. Marriage is a share relationship between the two spouses, I’ve always thought that if married people think it’s 50–50 they always wait til the other spouse does their 50, so in reality 50–50 is really 0–0 because no one wants to be thought of as a fool in doing their 50%

The best and most sobering piece of perspective on marriage I’ve ever heard was “Marriage isn’t 50/50. It’s 100/100.”

They say “marriage takes work.” BULLSHIT! If you’re “working” at your marriage…you’re married to the WRONG person.

I believe al its called the 80/20 conundrum. a person who’s married to the 80% will cheat with someone who has that 20%, not realising they now have less than before as they lost 80% to get 20%
