Deep in the woods, the chains of African clamped, Stretched years in Atlantic and unknown land troubled. Despair in slavery and thraldom wriggled for freedom, Negros and Colored, Quakers and Methodists alike. 4 
Midnight to dawn, the underground railroad, the compass, Secrecy required, the success of borders and barriers. Testament of bravery and determination of black men, Journeyed to freedom to home of a new beginning. 8
The courage of the forefathers is remembered.
You, Harriet Tubman, James Douglas and William Hall,
You, Elijah McCoy and Mufflin Gibbs, we remember.
History would not forget, Frederick Douglass and Anne Greenup. 12

Today celebrates our history spoken loudly in our icons
In military and business, a great pride.
In journalism, sports and innovation, a great succour,
We celebrate our black heritage in the land. 16

The beauty and grandeur in all antiquities,
Kings and queens, princes and princesses in centuries.
Suppressed segregation and intimidation,
The black, the white share and sheer equality. 24

Celebrate black history with me,
Celebrate the contribution for development.
Celebrate in great hope and anticipation,
We celebrate renaissance Africa. 28

Celebrate black history with me,
Let's clap our hands and drain our fears.
The rainbow's shone in the sky,
We celebrate our black heritage. 32
