A Chingola woman allegedly killed her two year old child by administering a poisonous substance which she believed to be the anointing oil she had been given by a minister.

Kabaso is believed to have killed his son Kudakwashe around 8pm on Wednesday as he lay in hospital after breaking a leg.

The boy was admitted to Nchanga North Hospital and cared for by his mother Kabaso.

However, on Wednesday morning, Kabaso’s aunt decided to stay by the baby’s bed so that Kabaso could go home and rest.

When Kabaso arrived at the bus station to board, she realized she had lost her ticket and prompted her to head back to the hospital.

Copperbelt Provincial Police Chief Peacewell Mweemba said Kabaso met a woman of God on her way to the hospital who prayed for her and gave her a bottle of a liquid substance.

Mr Mweemba said the woman allegedly told Kabaso that the liquid in the bottle was “anointing oil” which she had to give her son when she was alone.

“Kabaso made sure she was alone with her baby before giving her the anointing oil around 8 p.m.,” she said.
