A Chinese man Sun wu, popularly known as Sun Tzu(Master Sun), thought to be a historical general and strategist who is credited with writing the book “The Art of War.”
Although historians do not know who wrote the book or the particular time of the book’s publication.
Historians only know that copies of the book were initially written on bundles of bamboo slats that had been sewed together and that it somehow made its way into the hands of academics, politicians, and military officials throughout China.
The book earned recognition, impact, and was read in Korea and Japan.
However, Records Of The Grand Historian, the first of Sima Qian’s 24 dynastic histories of China, mentions an early Chinese story that King Helü of Wu had read and studied a work on military issues that had been composed by one San Wu from the state of Qi.
The book is thought to have been written more than 2,500 years ago, and inferences that Sun Tzu wrote The Art Of War were made from these sources.
Also, the book is made up of 13 pages with detailed explanation and analysis of how the general Sun Tzu won various battles.
Hence, The book includes historical warfare techniques and ideas that are applicable to many facets of life.
Importantly, The underlying idea of The Art of War is that diplomacy should be used to avert war. If it can’t be avoided, it should be psychologically and tactically battled to cause the least amount of harm and waste of resources. Going into war is conceding defeat, thus it should only be done as a last choice. Sunzi used a mix of conciliatory measures and violent conflict to defeat his enemies.
Furthermore,The Art of War has numerous detailed fighting tactics and recommendations. It places a priority on getting ready for battle, which includes considering the weather and the battlefield, researching the enemy’s movements and weak points, and providing soldiers with the required training.
However, given how unpredictable the battlefield is, it also suggests being adaptable. Because siege warfare prolongs the struggle and costs resources, it deters generals from using it. Additionally, generals should show respect to both captured and defeated men. In his 40 years as a general, Sun Tzu is credited with having never lost a battle or a war.
Art Of War is influential because of its technique and tactics, other than its warfare technology.
Political leaders, Millitary generals and even businesses has implored the knowledge gotten from the Art Of War to acquire victory in their different endeavours.
Imagine, though, that all of this expertise and information were lost simply because no one was able to record happenings at the time in a notebook.
Only because there were writings about the Art of War has it been able to be handed down from generation to generation.
