President Mohammadu Buhari, today, Tuesday, unveils the historic FCT MEGA RICE PYRAMIDS, in Abuja.

The Mega Rice Pyramids Project, which prides as the largest rice pyramid in Africa, is a strong collaboration of the Central Bank of Nigeria with the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).

The auspicious event is presided by His Excellency, President Mohammadu Buhari, also has in attendance, eminent Nigerians including the CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele; Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Èkìtì state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as well as distinguished governors and their representatives from some states of the federation.

In line with the administration’s robust agricultural roadmap, the rice pyramids are built with 1 million bags of rice paddy planted and harvested from states across the country, under the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP).

The Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP) is a laudable initiative of the CBN and serves as a monumental relief to farmers in the country.
Since its launch in 2015, the average yield of rice has prettily appreciated from 1.8 metric tonnes per hectare to 5 metric tonnes per hectare, whilst also discountenancing rice importation, towards expanding local production, exportation, and ultimately improving on the general welfare of the great citizens of Nigeria.
