Singer Falz’s Challenge to President Bola  Tinubu Over Kwara Church Kidnap Victims

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, fired a pointed criticism at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following news of the church kidnapping in Kwara State.

In a post on his X account on Sunday, November 23, 2025, he wrote: “This does not cut it. Where are the abductors?? Were they killed? How many arrests were made ???”

President Tinubu’s Response on the incident

President Tinubu confirmed on the same day that all 38 worshippers abducted from a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State had been rescued.  He praised the security forces for their “hard work” and pledged strength in his “hands-on approach” to national security.

President Bola Tinubu also noted that he had canceled his planned trip to the G20 summit in South Africa in order to focus on the security crisis, writing: “Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”

The Ordeal of the Kwara Kidnap Victims

The 38 abducted worshippers were taken on November 18, 2025, during an evening service at the CAC church in Oke-Isegun, Eruku, Kwara State.

A survivor described how, shortly after the service began, gunmen opened fire and herded churchgoers into nearby forested areas.  According to his account, the kidnappers openly identified themselves as bandits and claimed

“there is no one who can slip away,”

boasting of their intimate knowledge of the forest routes around Kwara and neighboring zones.

After five days in captivity, the worshippers were released on November 23, 2025, though the details of the rescue operation remain undisclosed.  Survivors were taken to the Kwara Government House for medical care and debriefing.

Public Reaction to singer Falz’s Questions

Singer Falz’s public challenge stirred widespread debate. Many Nigerians expressed support for his demand for accountability. Some praised him for speaking out when many remain silent, arguing that the rescue of victims alone is not enough; the fate of their captors and whether justice will be served matters deeply.

On social media, people questioned why the government had not disclosed whether the abductors were arrested or neutralized.

Meanwhile, others defended singer Falz, saying that such tough questions are necessary in a democracy to pressure leaders into action.

In summary, singer Falz’s pointed question “Where are the abductors?”   has struck a nerve because it underscores a deeper concern; rescue is only half the battle.

Meanwhile, the release of the 38 worshippers is welcome and has been publicly celebrated by both the Kwara State government and President Tinubu, the lack of clarity about what happened to the abductors raises serious questions about accountability and long-term security.

Without transparency on arrests or prosecutions, the risk remains that such attacks may recur. Singer Falz’s challenge reflects a broader demand among citizens: not just for the recovery of victims, but for justice, deterrence, and stronger systems to prevent future kidnappings.
