THE CURE TO MEDIOCRITY

I want to start by explaining what exposure means, exposure is the act of being exposed to a thing, okay I’m just kidding, it is the state of being in a place, situation or shown certain things that might be harmful or pleasant.

Exposure is one of the few ways to learn, either you’re exposed to the right person or the right information.

When salt is exposed to the atmosphere, it becomes wet when our melanin is exposed to the sun, it darkens but I won’t spend my time discussing the wrong aspects of exposure rather I’ll talk about the benefits of being exposed to the right environment,person or information and early.

Truth be told, those who are exposed to a lower level of information would think that is the way things are meant to be, first impression doesn’t just matter but it also lasts.

I was taught that when ‘a good seed’ is exposed to the “right soil, sunlight and moisture” at a right time, that seed won’t survive.

There are certain communities that a child shouldn’t be exposed to a very young age, I’ll advise that children should be kept within a good environment while they are young, I saw a neighbourhood where people smoke and a little boy growing up there would come to see that lifestyle as the lifestyle. It’s easier to replicate or duplicate one’s results when it’s all you see.

Whatever that is of good report and worthy of praise, think on these things. take a Chinese baby, breed him in Nigeria and you’ll be shocked at the traits that the Chinese would exhibit even though he has Chinese blood flowing through his veins.

So a Syrophoenician woman said a very powerful statement to Jesus that “even though food are meant for children are served to children, even dogs who expose themselves to that environment still feed part of the meal meant for children” (paraphrased)

Most times people are asked to be trained by a certain employee and if that employee gives them a negative mindset about your company, then you start seeing same characteristics showing itself in the other new employees, it’s like using an error paper to make photocopies, because other new papers are exposed to that error, you see it reciprocated in the new photocopies.

Be careful of what your kids are exposed to, most children don’t even get to spend close time with their parents. Most people when exposed to certain things early come to believe that the very thing the first saw is all there is.

This is why first impression must be intentional, your children’s first school, your employees first trainer, your first coach, first experience.

Mediocrity comes when people are comfortable with their first impression, I heard a wise man say ” forgive people because if they knew better,they would do better”
