Oluwatobi Owomoyela popularly known by his stage name Peteru has been confirmed dead at 35 years on the 21st of December 2022.

He was renowned for his distinctive delivery when he imitated people. In Ibadan, he was also an MC and an on-air personality.

Peteru was one of the fastest-rising comedians in Nigeria’s South-West who had established a reputation for himself by working with the top performers in the business.

Sadly, Peteru had just recently laid his father to rest in November before he passed away on Wednesday, his death came 5 weeks after his father’s funeral.

His family has not yet revealed the reason for his passing, despite the fact that he had a cancer diagnosis.

According to reports, Peteru is the lone son in a family of seven (7).

Some of his colleagues in the entertainment industry have taken to Instagram to mourn his sudden death.

Early Thursday morning, Actor Muyiwa Ademola shared a video on Instagram saying,

“This is a very hard pill to swallow! How could this jolly good fellow just depart this world in this manner? Hmmm… it is well.

“Please be kind to one another as we don’t even know what we are individually passing through! I learnt Peteru died of cancer. You were battling such burden yet I never saw you without a smile! It is well. It is well. It is well. Journey well great guy. I am out of words tonight.”

Actress Funmi Awelewa also took to her page to mourn Peteru.

With many heartbroken emojis, Awelewa wrote

“Peteru. Unquestionable God.”

The Owomoyela family has conveyed their sorrow and trauma over the death of their son, Peteru.

While the family grieved over his passing, they also made arrangements for his funeral, which would be disclosed later.

The family of the deceased therefore pleaded with members of the public to give them space to mourn the loss of their son.

“The entire family is devasted, and all we can ask for at this time is for the public to kindly allow the family to grieve and mourn this huge loss, ” the statement reads.

The family described Peteru as “a loving son, father, husband, uncle and comedian extraordinaire.”

The death of Peteru, no doubt left so much pain in the hearts of his acquaintance. The upcoming comedian who must have had unfulfilled ambitions will forever be remembered.

Life shouldn’t be this unfair to anyone.
