Pope Francis has spoken against the criminalisation of homosexuality.

BBC reported that the Pope made this known while speaking to reporters after visiting South Sudan.

Pope Francis described those with “homosexual tendencies” as children of God, adding that they should be welcomed by their churches.

Condemning the criminality of homosexuals, the Pope said, “This is not right. Persons with homosexual tendencies are children of God. God loves them. God accompanies them… condemning a person like this is a sin.”

In January, the Church of England said it would refuse to allow same-sex couples to be married in its churches.
