Former Nigerian leader, Chief Earnest Shonekan dies at the age of 85, on the 11th day of January 2022 at the Evercare hospital in Lagos state.

Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan GCFR (9 May 1936 – 11 January 2022) was born on the 9th of May 1936 in Ogun State, western Nigeria.

Prior to his political career, Shonekan tasted some level of success, He was the chairman of the United African Company of Nigeria, a massive Nigerian conglomerate, which later grew to be the largest African-controlled company in Sub-Saharan Africa at that time.

Also, he was a Nigerian lawyer and a successful business man who served as the interim Head of State of Nigeria from 26 August 1993 to 17 November 1993. His leadership was brief, yet impactful.

Sequeling military presidential leadership of General Ibrahim Babaginda(IBB), and the crisis of the third republic there was little he could do given the fire situations he came to meet.

Chief Ernest Shonekan died of natural cause as relayed by his family, condolences as trooping in, especially by imperial leaders and the President himself.
