Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the son of late Mr and Mrs Taiwo Odukoya, who took over senior pastor and Chairperson of the board at Fountain Of Life Church after the demise of his father in August 2023, has revealed how God stopped him from cutting his dreadlocks before stepping into the senior pastor office.
While preaching in his church on Sunday, Pastor Odukoya mentioned that he sought for God’s guidance on changing his appearance before stepping into his pastoral duties after the demise of his father.
On seeking God’s guidance, he got a response to leave his hair, however he went t further to ask his sister to pray about it.
He said ;
“One of the things I asked God before I came back was whether I should cut my hair or not and he told me not to cut my hair.
So, I told my sister to pray that God would speak to her. She came back and told me that I wasn’t supposed to cut it. I replied – I know because God already told me”
Furthermore, he revealed the significance of not cutting his hair as directed by God. He narrated the story of a woman who travelled from Zimbabwe to Nigeria to hear his preaching live. The woman said she had a vision back in 2016 in New York, where a man with long hair spoke life into her.
The woman reportedly said ;
“In 2016, I had a vision that felt so real. I saw you with your hair declaring over me and giving instructions.
The woman screamed when she saw Odukoya after enduring a painful divorce and the loss of her mom, she looked for God, then came across a YouTube sermon by Odukoya, she screamed because he was the same man from her vision.
But Pastor Odukoya also mentioned he didn’t have long hairs back then in 2016 – Pondering on the moment Pastor Odukoya said ;
“God who sees and hears knew that in February 2025, one of his daughters would need to see a man preaching with long hair. If God hadn’t told me to keep it, I would have cut it. But he made me keep it to save a life”
Pastor Odukoya who is also a popular Bollywood actor who had a Career in acting had lots of controversies regarding his priesthood and ministerial purpose when he assumed his father’s position over his appearance – particularly his hair.
Who knew this hair would be revealed to be a tool to saving a life?
