Afrobeats superstar Davido has shockingly pulled out of 50 Cent’s Legacy Tour concert slated for July 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, despite strong ticket sales and massive fan anticipation. The show, which also features R&B queen Mary J. Blige, will go on without the Nigerian megastar.
Davido, known for global hits like Unavailable, Fall , and If, made the announcement on Saturday, June 14, 2025, via his Instagram Stories, stating that his withdrawal is rooted in
“principle and respect for his craft” not poor ticket sales as speculated by some.
“Despite strong fan support and impressive ticket sales, there have been major misalignments regarding the event’s execution, particularly concerning key elements required to uphold the integrity and quality of my performance,” Davido explained.
The Grammy-nominated Afrobeats icon added that he and his team went above and beyond to meet expectations, working closely with The Neto Future Group, promoters behind Iconic Presents, to deliver an exceptional performance. However, unresolved issues forced him to make the tough call.
“This decision is not a reflection of turnout or support; it is a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I represent,” Davido emphasized.
Africa Is Not to Be Disrespected
In true 001 fashion, Davido closed his statement with a bold declaration:
“Africa must be respected.”
The superstar’s decision to stand firm on his values has sparked conversations online about how African artists are treated on international stages.
Fans have flooded social media with support, praising the artist for choosing integrity over exposure. Many are hailing him as a true ambassador of African music, with hashtags like #RespectAfricanArtists and #DavidoLegacy trending across X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
Davido’s Summer Tour Still Intact
While the London leg of the Legacy Tour may have lost one of its biggest performers, Davido assured fans that the rest of his 2025 summer tour dates remain untouched.
“London, I’ll see you guys soon, I promise! Rest of the shows this summer are still happening. 5ive is still alive! See you guys in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada and the US!” he wrote.
