The video captured soldiers pouring water on the victim, then proceeding to beat the civilian with a machete on his stomach, buttocks and legs for not knowing the whereabouts of his brother believed to be a separatist fighter.

The uniformed officers continued to beat the victim till he passed out.

It is uncertain when the incident occurred, but the video was released on Saturday, February 13.

Human Rights Watch has accused Cameroonian security forces severally of using torture without fear of repercussion.

The Human Rights Watch documented 26 cases of incommunicado detention and enforced disappearance at the SED detention site between January 2018 and January 2019, including 14 cases of torture- adding that the numbers are likely much higher but most victims are too afraid to speak for fear of reprisals.
