Business proposals are documents that can help a skilled individual or company to be able to show their abilities, products and services to someone or a firm that needs them and is willing to pay for the skills.

There are certain things you must know before you start or make a business proposal.

1. Keep it simple

A business proposal isn’t supposed to be bulky and too burdensome for your client to read, a confused buyer hardly buys anything so you should just make sure that your proposal is tailored towards these five areas

The Introduction, Problem, Solutions, Team and experience, Next step of action/terms and conditions.

Follow these steps and your client would make a decision quickly and know that you value their time as well

2. Know your client.

You can’t know the needs of your clients until you really understand them, who they are, what they do, their goals, their pain points, past experiences, past projects, and timeline it would take to achieve delivering the project that you intend to do for them.

3. Do your research

Take your due diligence to understand their needs, check out the market share and if possible check out their competitors and what value you can bring to the table to help them beat the competition or make the game fair enough for them to play with them.

4. Stay organised

Each section should transition into the next section, each page should gently touch what points they need to concisely and precisely and that way the client can see the progression of what they need in the organisation of your words.

5. Have a compelling Executive summary, the executive summary is the first page of the business proposal and by default the first thing that the client would set their eyes on.

It is paramount that it is compelling enough, if it means getting a good design, then please by all means get it designed, even if it means giving to a third eye for review and corrections, then that should be done as well.

6. Back up the data in your business proposal with facts, make sure the information in the business proposal is up to date to avoid being thrown off guard.

7. Make it visually appealing, you need to make sure that your words are well written down, you can make it appealing also with

✓ High quality images
✓Typography
✓ Company branding
✓ Interactive words
✓ An attractive layout

8. Always have a contingency plan

Have an alternative for almost every step, the pricing, prepare for possible objections that may come from your client, you can prepare by doing your research, thinking ahead, being flexible and having different prototypes.

Install these into your business proposal and watch your client smile to having an agreement with you afterwards.
