Recently I was going to throw away dirt and I met a friend of mine, well it’s not in my nature to discriminate anyone so I have been supplying plastic to him for a while that we became so close so on this faithful day that I met this friend, he came to see me off so that he could have exclusive access to my garbage, funny but you’ll understand soon.

I got so curious, now this my friend has a car, I must mention this so you’ll know how lucrative this business is, so I asked him why he chose this business.

“Oga leave say you dey see me dey pick this dirty, this business dey pay, leave am”

I replied “seriously?”

“Yes o” he affirmed, so he opened my eyes to alot that I would be sharing here with you, so get your pens ready, if you don’t have one, kindly copy and paste and also share so that Facebook would remind you of this post in about a year from today.

Now the plastic that we all take, starting from something as little as the satchet water plasic that we all consume regularly can be recycled.

Some plastics cannot be recycled probably because the machine it takes to melt them aren’t so cheap and affordable but nevertheless. Let’s deal with what we have, metals too can be recycled.

Now you can either choose to recycle or convert them to energy, Sweden is a perfect country that makes use of waste to generate power (electricity), the best part of this is that Sweden has almost exhausted all the waste in its country that it now imports from other countries.

I know you didn’t see that coming 😂, some countries are willing to pay you for the waste that we so lavishly have here in Nigeria and yet we haven’t started exporting them, not only Sweden, China used to be the number one global importer but stopped due to some reasons, China is one of the major exporter of plastics (you see what happened there, they get the plastic waste and recycle and sell at a higher rate to the same countries)

But what if we get a Chinese or Sweden country to come to our country here and partner with them, and not only that. We get them to build an factory here, we would solve the problem of the GDP, dirt and unemployment with just one stone…

Now my friend wasn’t done with me, he told me how he branded himself that he didn’t need to supply to depot but people came to his company to look for him (not really like a company, a piece of land that he rented and used as a dumping site, he has employers under him that help to select the waste according to their segments)

We also have Nigerians who also are doing this very system so it is guaranteed that it would work

Olufunto Boroffice, a female serial entrepreneur with several businesses in Abuja, Nigeria, who’s ready to make a difference. In May 2015, Olufunto established her latest venture, Chanja Datti Ltd – a waste collection recycling social enterprise dedicated to the collection and transformation of waste in the environment to tackle the waste and pollution problem in Nigeria

Through the waste management value chain, Chanja Datti is empowering unemployed women and youth especially those at the bottom of the pyramid by creating jobs for them through their micro entrepreneurship program. They also make it their duty to promote environmental sustainability and relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) enlightenment campaigns across communities as well as educational and religious institutions, with particular focus on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

We also have Bilikiss, who is the CEO and co-founder of Wecyclers, a for-profit social enterprise working to help communities reclaim their neighborhoods from unmanaged waste. Founded in 2012, Wecyclers uses low-cost cargo bicycles called “wecycles” to provide convenient recycling services to households in Lagos by using an SMS-based incentives system.

Bilikiss developed the business idea as an MBA student in the USA, after a five-year career as a corporate software engineer at the IBM Corporation. She left her corporate job and decided to focus on the waste business and now She is an employer of labour.

This is something that State, Federal and Private organisations should look into or collaborate with the people that I just mentioned.

What do you think about this idea? Let me know in the comments
