This was like an idiom saying Elisha the mentee or protégé of Elijah is here.
Mentorship is when one, who is more knowledgeable and experienced, teaches and guides another person in a certain course, expertise or area.

The quickest way to get to an unknown destination is going with a map or a guide. Mentors prevent you from making the mistakes that took them through years of pain.

Let’s say your mentor was someone who battled with brand creation and marketing for 3 years before breaking even (making a profit) and you learn from him, he tells you in 30 minutes how brand creation helped him in marketing his product, saving you the three years it took him.

Apart from giving great advice, they make you accountable to them. Because of accountability, one is careful how one should behave.

When one finds out that Mark Zuckerberg was mentored by Steve Jobs, it should not come as a surprise. A wise man said and I quote, “If I have seen further than others, it is by standing on the shoulder of giants”

Whose shoulder are you standing on?

Most times, people don’t give room for mentorship or having protégés but that’s alright. We didn’t get to meet the apostles but we are learning from their writings. Find their books.

Pastor David Ibiyeomie spoke on how he was mentored by Pastor David Oyedepo, not personally but by reading his books. It isn’t about proximity.

Find a mentor, if it was about proximity, Matthias wouldn’t have replaced Judas.

But How do you make someone your mentor, Find something of value and offer them. This necessarily doesn’t need to be money. What hurts them?

Do they have a Wikipedia page? Can you Manage their social media handle? Can you arrange for them to have their professional picture taken? Can you write a copy for anybody their digital product? Can you patronize their services?

You must Know that mentors are also human beings. You don’t just bump into their dm asking for money or mentorship without paying a price?

Go meet them with some sort of value.

You can get to meet a mentor through a mentee of their already. Someone that can introduce you to them. Some one they are familiar with already
