In a surprising yet light-hearted moment during the Edo State House of Assembly plenary, Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru introduced herself as “Natasha Irobosa Osawaru née Idibia”, prompting laughter from her fellow lawmakers.

This subtle but bold name change comes just weeks after she updated her Instagram handle to include “Idibia” — a move that further fueled speculation surrounding her relationship with Nigerian music icon, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia. A video capturing the moment shows Natasha smiling as she addressed the house, sparking mixed reactions online.

Political Revelation.

Beyond her name revelation, Hon. Natasha has been at the center of significant political developments in the Edo State legislature. The lawmaker, who represents the Egor Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was recently removed as the Minority Leader following a major shift in the House’s power dynamics.

This change came after several PDP members defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), giving the APC a new majority. Alongside Natasha’s removal, former Majority Leader Charity Aiguobaruneghian and former Chief Whip Yekini Idaiye were also stripped of their leadership roles.

The acting APC chairman in Edo State, Jaret Tenebe, officially informed the Assembly of the party’s majority status, prompting the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, to announce a new lineup of APC leaders:

Ibhamawu Aigbokhan (Esan West) as Majority Leader

Adeh Isibor (Esan North-East) as Deputy Leader

Lecky Hussein Mustapha (Etsako West I) as Chief Whip

Meanwhile, PDP’s Agbebaku and Maria Edeko retained their positions as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

Natasha has remained in the spotlight ever since 2Baba publicly acknowledged their relationship on Instagram, followed by a romantic proposal that had social media buzzing. Despite facing criticism over the singer’s complicated romantic history, Natasha recently stated — during a family boat cruise with 2Baba and his children — that she won’t leave him over infidelity rumors.

Her unapologetic stance and bold claim to the Idibia name are drawing attention not just for their emotional weight, but for how they blend personal vulnerability with political visibility.

Hon. Natasha’s evolving public image — equal parts politician and public figure — reflects a growing intersection of politics and pop culture in Nigeria. Whether her association with the Idibia name strengthens or strains her political future remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: all eyes are on her.
