“You Claimed What I Fully Own” – Actress Bimbo Ademoye Cries Out
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye was left devastated after her YouTube movie was allegedly sabotaged through copyright infringement, costing her millions of naira in revenue.
In an emotional Instagram video shared on Saturday afternoon, the actress called out Emmanuel Davis, popularly linked with Lagos Sound, accusing him of illegally uploading a soundtrack from her movie and falsely claiming ownership.
“I’m not the one to come up here and misbehave, I mind my business and I love to stay on my lane,”
“I’m making this video so that it can be public record”
“I had a very long week, I have been tested, I have been tired, I have been stressed mentally, physically, spiritually and financially, I’m drained; Emmanuel Davis, Lagos sounds, I’m warning you now, you don’t want to dare me? Because if I put a bounty on your head and find you now.”
“You pirate my sound, did I authorize you? I’m giving you one hour to report yourself now and disclaim the ownership of my movie’s sounds”
Visibly distressed, actress Bimbo said:
“That song was made specially for my movie. I paid for it. I own it completely. You uploaded it on digital platforms, claimed it as yours, and because of that, my movie got demonetised.”
She added:
“You blocked me from earning from my own work. This movie is my sweat, my money, my sleepless nights and you just took it.”
According to the actress, the action immediately triggered YouTube’s copyright system, leading to automatic demonetisation, a situation she described as financially and emotionally draining.
Actress Bimbo Ademoye alleged that Emmanuel Davis uploaded the movie’s original soundtrack to music streaming platforms, including Spotify, naming himself as the composer or rights holder.
Because YouTube cross-checks music ownership through Content ID systems, the claim reportedly resulted in:
Copyright flags on actress Bimbo’s YouTube movie
Immediate demonetisation of the content
Loss of substantial revenue despite high viewership
She insisted the song was commissioned exclusively for her movie and that no permission was given for it to be distributed independently or claimed by another party.
As of the time of this report, Emmanuel Davis has not issued a public response to the allegations.
The Movie.
The affected movie, “Where Love Lives”, is a Nollywood romance-drama produced by actress Bimbo Ademoye and released on YouTube in December 2025.
The film explores love, marriage, class differences, and emotional resilience, and it quickly gained millions of views.
The controversy became public after actress Bimbo posted a tearful video on Instagram, directly addressing the alleged infringement and pleading for immediate resolution before further damage was done to her work and earnings.
Netizen’s Reaction.
However, others advised restraint, suggesting that public call-outs could complicate legal processes.
Some recommended resolving the issue strictly through copyright strikes, DMCA procedures, and the courts, rather than emotional online exchanges.
Actress Bimbo Ademoye’s ordeal highlights the growing vulnerability of independent filmmakers in the digital age, where a single disputed copyright claim can erase months of hard work and income.
As Nollywood increasingly embraces online distribution, the case raises urgent questions about ownership, monetisation, and creative protection. Whether through legal action or platform intervention, the outcome of this dispute may serve as a defining moment for how Nigerian creators defend their work in the digital era.
