Some years ago, a young boy watched a video, titled the greatest of all time.

It was a documentary video of Mohammed Ali, and that little boy became inspired and decided that he would become a boxer, that little boy would later become the greatest of his time.

Fortunately, this little boy’s coach happened to friends with Mohammed Ali, Down the line, Ali got diagnosed with an illness he refused to share to the world at that time, but had a major match and decided to fight anyway.

This fight was against Larry Holmes, another great boxer, who was an old friend of Ali’s, the challenge got so fierce that they challenged themselves into a battle, while the whole world watched that boxing match, the little boy also did.

His name was Mike Tyson, but Mohammed Ali lost the match to Larry Holmes, Mike cried like he lost the match himself.

So when Amarto called Ali to complain about he lost to Larry, he gave a one time opportunity to Mike, he let him speak to his icon and role model, Mike did one powerful thing, most mentees don’t do, he made a promise to best Larry for Ali.

Six years later, the boy had become the world heavy weight, and fought against Larry

Of course, Ali was in attendance, he remembered the promise Mike made to him and whispered to Mike, “Destroy him”

And yes, Mike destroyed him but Mike never saw himself as so powerful that he claimed he defeated who Ali couldn’t defeat, he still gave the title, Greatest of all time, he honored Ali even until death.

Ali honored him too, Mike’s last match as a boxer, Ali was in attendance, wishing him luck, kissing him even though he was really sick with the Parkinson disease, a disease that limited most of his movements and impeded his speech but Ali didn’t mind, he was in the dressing room, watching Mike as he dressed for the match, complimenting and affirming how great Mike was.

During Ali’s death, so great was the honour and admiration Mike had for Ali, that he wept profusely during Ali’s burial. He still honours him in every interview he goes to.

There are a lot of lessons in this story, but I know you’re so wise to pick that which was meant for you.
