Importantly, before we dive into this topic and devour it, we’ll need to understand the term ‘Leader’ so it’d be easier to identify what makes one a leader.

In regards to the above sentence, a definition already familiar with you all will be chiped in.

According to the previous article. A leader is said to be “someone whose life has been shaped in a way it benefits other people. Yes, a leader is a servant.”

While Leadership implies “an individual’s life characteristics that embodies qualities through which purposes are fulfilled.”

From this definition, there are few lessons to pick out.

Firstly, for someone’s life to be ‘shaped’ in a way it benefits others. It means that this person has been trained/equipped in a particular way so as to benefit others.

Secondly, if a person is going to believe that a stranger or another person will make decisions that will benefit himself other than this person who is making this decision then there has to be a form of trust or confidence.

Wait, I know you didn’t get that.
Now let’s break it into bits. If Mr Z is going to believe that Mr A will make decisions that will benefit Mr Z, it means that there is an established trust or confidence in Mr A.

Okay I’m sure you got that now.

For better understanding, we’ll employ Mr A as the the leader and Mr Z as the follower, just like we did above.

Having said that, for anyone to live a life where he puts other peoples needs first other than himself. It shows that this person is selfless.

A selfless person has love for others, and it’s this love that fuels his devotion towards people.

From our discussion above, we’ve already discussed some characteristics of a leader and they include:

√ Training.
A leader is raised or trained in a certain ways for him to posses the following qualities.

√ Confidence.
A leader has followers who are confident in his decisions. This is because they know that what ever he chooses will always be for their good.

√ Selflessness.
A leader is selfless. It is this quality that makes it easier for a leader to help others fulfill their purpose, without minding oneself.

√ Love.
It’s a leader’s love for his followers that makes it easier for him to demonstrate the qualities required of a leader even when things do not go as planned.

Other qualities of leadership may include, courage and foresight.

All these virtues are developed through constant teaching, and the good thing is it can be self-taught too.

But being a Christian and Godly makes it even easier to learn and have these virtues.

The Christian teachingdoctorine has been assembled to promote peaceful co-existence among people. God urges us to be our brothers keeper and love our neighbours as we love ourselves.

A person who loves his neighbour won’t use people for rituals, or demand to sleep with a student for grades. Someone who understands the words of God won’t trade the future of their citizens for money.

A person who loves God won’t engage in any activity that won’t magnify God’s name and all of these activities will equally hurt men.

A Christian is taught to be selfless, content and love his neighbours.

In addition to all that’s been discussed, it’s vital to understand that even if one doesn’t have any or all of these values, it’s never late to start learning now.

I hope you become a person in position with leadership qualities.

Have you analysed yourself?

Do you think you have any of these leadership qualities?

Which of the values would you work hard to attain?
