NNPCL Board Restructuring Will Eliminate Inefficiencies – Hon. Esosa Iyawe

The lawmaker representing Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo State, Hon. Esosa Iyawe, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s recent reconstitution of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) board, describing it as a timely and strategic move that will help eliminate inefficiencies within the organization.

Iyawe, an engineer-turned-politician, noted that the restructuring reflects President Tinubu’s broader agenda to transform Nigeria’s energy sector for sustainable, long-term development.

“This bold decision underscores the President’s commitment to reform, transparency, and long-term sustainability in the energy sector,” he said in a personally signed statement.

He emphasized that the reshuffling of the NNPCL board is expected to enhance operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and foster the diversification of the gas market—critical components for economic growth and energy security.

“With President Tinubu’s ambitious goal of increasing national oil production by 200,000 barrels per day by 2027 and 500,000 barrels per day by 2030, the newly restructured leadership is well-positioned to drive meaningful reform and strengthen NNPCL’s role in national development,” Iyawe added.

Addressing the newly appointed board members, the federal lawmaker described their roles as more than just administrative positions, calling it a historic opportunity to reshape the trajectory of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

“To the new NNPCL leadership, this is not just a call to duty—it is a chance to build trust, embrace innovation, and ensure that our vast energy resources deliver tangible benefits to all Nigerians,” he said.

“You hold a responsibility that goes beyond managing resources; it’s about eliminating inefficiencies, delivering value for money, promoting job creation, and fostering a resilient energy sector that supports national prosperity. Your performance will not only define the success of this administration but also lay a solid foundation for Nigeria’s economic revival,” Iyawe concluded.

Do you think the restructuring of the NNPCL board will truly eliminate inefficiencies in the organization?

Do you think diversifying the gas market is the right step toward achieving energy security?
