Mr. Fernando Villavicencion, Ecuadorian esteemed Presidential candidate, was assassinated during a political rally in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, on Wednesday. This heartbreaking incident occurred only a few days prior to the scheduled election.
In response to the shocking news, Ecuadorian president Guillermo Lasso has convened a crucial security cabinet meeting to address and confirm the devastating assassination.
“Outraged and shocked by the assassination of presidential candidate Fernando villavicencio,” lasso said in a statement. ” For his memory and his fight, I assure you that this crime will not go unpunished.” The president has placed the blame for the tragic shooting on “organized crime,” emphasizing that they will be held accountable under the full weight of the law.

Villavicencion was one among the eight candidate contesting for the office of the president. One could boldly make claims that the obvious intentions of the killer was to make sure he doesn’t emerge as the winner of the election, but according to ongoing Investigation it is suspected to be an “organized crime,” and the intention of the killer maybe more than just stopping him from contesting, in that regards they might not only be after the assassins.

According to the attorney general’s office, the shooting that has occurred, resulted in injuries of at least nine individuals, which includes a national assembly candidate and two police officers. The incident is currently being investigated.

A report have been received from Carlos Figueroa, a close friend of villavicencion, who was at the scene of the incident. According to Carlos, he shared a video online stating that villavicencion was tragically shot in the head three times.
