Popular Nigerian artist Davido, whose birth name is David Adeleke, has reportedly taken legal action in the Lagos State High Court against Sophia Momodu in an attempt to gain custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke.

In a dramatic legal maneuver that sent shockwaves through the court, an application was filed on the notable date of April 17, 2024, under the reference number LD/1587PMC/2024. The protagonist of this unfolding legal saga is none other than the music sensation Davido, who has chosen to embark on a pursuit for justice and fairness. His legal target? Sophia Momodu, the respondent in this upcoming legal showdown. 

The crux of Davido’s plea lies in his ardent desire for joint custody of his beloved daughter, Imade, as well as unfettered access to her precious presence. As the battle lines are drawn, the stage is set for a gripping legal confrontation that will determine the future of this family dynamic.

In a tale of commitment and devotion, Davido sheds light on his unwavering dedication to his daughter, Imade, despite the conclusion of his romantic entanglement with Sophia Momodu years ago. His actions speak volumes as he meticulously tends to Imade’s needs and well-being, showcasing a profound sense of responsibility and care.

Through his pursuit of joint custody and unrestricted visitation rights, Davido endeavors to cement an enduring and active presence in his daughter’s life. His steadfast support extends beyond mere financial provisions, with him shouldering the burden of Imade’s education expenses and even tending to the accommodation needs of Sophia and their child.

Yet, amidst his tireless efforts, Davido faces hurdles in the form of purportedly unreasonable demands and vexatious behavior from Momodu, casting shadows over his noble intentions. A highlight of this saga unfolds as he extends an offer of a lavish N200 million apartment nestled within a prestigious enclave on Victoria Island, complete with opulent amenities and top-notch security, only to be rebuffed.

He said, “The respondent rejected the offer to stay and live at the above-described secured Oniru apartment, which had been purchased already, but demanded that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my own contribution towards my daughter’s accommodation.”

Davido went above and beyond by acquiring a top-of-the-line Range Rover SUV to facilitate her daily comings and goings, particularly for school runs. However, his noble intentions faced unexpected opposition.

The singer divulged a troubling incident where Imade’s school reported her prolonged absence, lasting a staggering two weeks. Seeking clarity from Momodu, excuses were given, citing issues with the Range Rover’s state, a matter left unmentioned prior, frustrating Davido’s earnest attempts at ensuring his daughter’s comfort and safety.

Upon discovering the plight of the Range Rover, Davido promptly secured an additional vehicle, a sleek Highlander SUV, and generously provided Momodu with N5.8 million to rectify the car’s troubles. In a bid to safeguard their child’s welfare, he made a firm commitment to covering all aspects of her care, from daily expenses and medical needs to travel costs, demonstrating his relentless dedication to their daughter’s well-being.

He added that “notwithstanding my efforts in the overall interest of my daughter, the respondent has continued to make outlandish and Utopian demands to frustrate me.”

Amidst a tangled web of allegations and emotional turmoil, Davido revealed that Momodu sought an exorbitant monthly salary for the nanny serving their daughter, amounting to a staggering $19,600 annually, a demand he found unreasonable. 

Despite his unwavering dedication to his daughter’s welfare, Davido lamented Momodu’s alleged maltreatment and its lasting emotional impact on him. 

Yearning for a brighter co-parenting future, Davido has set his sights on a court-approved joint custody arrangement for their daughter, Imade Adeleke, in the hopes of fostering a more united and nurturing environment for her growth and development.
